In NYC, explosives were used to partially demolish Diamond Reef, located between the Battery and Governor’s Island, on Thursday. The demolition was witnessed by a large onshore crowd as well as spectators in boats. A severe gale on Lake Erie on the 13th damaged the steamer ‘Buckeye State’. In Europe, the harvests in general are expected to be very good. Meanwhile, a 53 1/4 pound salmon was sold in London for £6, 13 shillings, and six pence, which is a higher price than that of a good Highland ox.
